Hvar Town Croatia

Published on 23/06/2019 by lucijana

The town of Hvar has a long and distinguished history as center for trade and culture in the Adriatic – from activities in its clubs and restaurants through spiritual seriousness of its museums, churches and monasteries to peaceful simplicity of Mediterranean lifestyle and perfect nature scenery.

Evidences of the great cultural heritage are the Fortica Fortress on the hill overlooking the town, Loggia and Franciscan monastery from the 15th century with its valuable museum collection.

For those culture enthusiasts Hvar offers art exhibits, music concerts, theatre shows and we highly recommend classical music concerts that are a part of Hvar Summer Festival held in the cloister of the Franciscan monastery just on the waterfront.

If you are into active holidays, there are tennis, baseball and handball courts, beach volleyball, a net of bicycle and jogging paths and trecks, rock climbing, possibilities for sea kayaking and sailing. From the rich offer of the tours and activities offered by the town of Hvar choose half-day or full day tours by boat from the port of Hvar or visit one of the numerous vine tastings tours offered by famous Hvar vinemakers. Choose the Blue cave tour from Hvar or walking city tour and discover rich history and cultural heritage of the town of Hvar.

Hvar is also very proud of its beautiful beaches in the town as well as on the islands nearby, especially on the surreally beautiful Pakleni Islands just a few minutes away. Pakleni islands have numerous bathing places and a countless of small, secluded beaches – some of the islands like Jerolim located directly opposite of Hvar town has one of the most eminent naturist beaches with showers, small shop and Jerolim restaurant. All Islands are connected with taxi boats that leave from the port very often in the high season.

Visit Hvar island and find your place in the sun 🌞
